Well Mike Rowe didn't get around to mentioning all of that....but he did point out the years of fart fumes that get trapped in the mattresses.

You would think bed sheets would stop it from getting to the mattress.

That's what I was wondering about.Is there a large number of people who don't use bed sheets?
 
The mites are microscopic, they freely pass through the fibers. There are hypoallergenic pillow and mattress covers that seal your bedding.

They do need a decent amount of humidity to live, so if you live in an arid climate they won't be present.
