She popped... But bad news-lesson learned

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I didnt see any pics but i imagine it could have been anyone inc the mother.
if it helps at all when i have pups due i put a type of divider in with large spaces cut in the sides an bottom where it meets the glass and substrate. The spaces are large enough for pups but not adults.
After finding "stumpy" one morning i have done this ever since with no problems.
The pups find their way into the enclosure and sit there undisturbed untill morning (after being born in the night) without having to remove any adults.
hope it helps :-)

Any chance the pup could have been a still born, and someone chewed on it during the night? The last pup my marble had was still born at night. I found it in the morning but there were not signs of trama.

sorry that sucks! bad luck, but i agree with spotfin, the instance i seen the pic first thought that came to mind was a stillbirth and possibly not fully developed, better luck next time keepinfish!!!!!

no :)

Cant decide if i should move momma, or if that would be too much stress for her. i have an empty 180, but is only 24" wide i think she would be fine temporally there.. or just dividing her.. or moving the males.. not sure which route yet.
i need to act soon.

She should be fine in the 180, just water change into it for parameters to be similar I suppose.
Better to move before she's super far along
