wait ... so what lighting is on the tank though xD i use a nikon sb600 and it makes the color pops out so much i understand xD but how'd u make em so pretty even without flash xD
Regaridng lighting, I have used very pouplar Japanese product "Sun Look"
18W x 16. 1170(lm) per each. It looks natual white. I don't use metal highland light.
I used Tamron XR Di II sp 17-50mm 2.8 lens for the last photos.
The first shots were taken by Tamron 90mm macro lens.
My flash is not Nikon though my camera is Nikon.
If people understand the relation between light and the color, and we learn all functions of the camera in addition, they can be easily described.
The most important thing might be a thing to find a better fish. In fact, each of my Cichla has a different color.
I selected them of many Cichla to show Cichla lovers interesting photos.
Thanks.

Very interesting. A while back I posted a picture of my Pinima vs the Trust Pinima and the two looked very different. I was thinking it could have just been a Pinima variant. But if your saying that the picture above is a Vaz, perhaps a few of the ones that were being said to be Pinima could have been really a Vaz...

It's really amazing to see the transformation that a PBAss undergoes as it get's bigger and matures. One day it could be really boring looking and the next blossom into a beautiful butterfly.
The Vaz was collected in lake Balbina (upper rio Uatuma) for Japanese National TV program. Exporter and importer never mistaken those location. That fish was never Pinama. When they arrived at Japan, 2 of them were showing breeding coloration like some Negro Acu (temensis).
We can see very beautiful yellow Cichla which is very similar to Pinima in upper Rio TelesPires. Dr.Kullander did described only mirianae on this region.
Now I have 5 different pinima from 5 different river system and they are showing a bit different patterm from others.
even same pinima from same location have different pattern..

Always stunning and very inspirational, Seiichi !!!
It's a real shame that all the world is feeling the crunch that Brazil is putting on the export of Cichla. It seems that even Japan will be affected poorly. I hope you get to breed them!!!
Outstanding as always....and it's always a treat to look at your photos!!
Thanks,
--Brian
Thanks Brain:)
It became so hard to import the Cichla from Brazil because now IBAMA checks all baggs because these days illegal styingrays were sent often like p14 and over sized ones.
Now you perfectly came back to Cichla game !!!
I'm selecting special adult for my breeding;)

so jealous of your light xD they make the fish so natural unlike my Hagen T5 glo .... i couldnt find any info on google bout em, mind sharing how much they are and possibility of shipping ( if not, i mite come like next next summer to find em in Japan myself xD )

anyway, im always amazed by ur collection , it gives me inspiration :D
thats why i went out and found myself a big azul and this http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=226448 which has similar gold pearls like urs but still not comparable to ur legendary cichlas

cant wait to see more of ur collection ^^

The good ol days...

Before the CB bred game blew up, wild caught was the name of the game. Tough to justify a $300 Kelberi from some exotic and remote location in Brazil when you can pick up the phone and buy them out of Asia for a couple bucks a piece. Long live the glory days...
