Lucky your's feeds like that. I've had my 8" yellow since June and he still won't come more than 6" out of his cave for food.

I've many that would feed like that, even some that would let me pick them up out of the water, it's all in the wrist... :headbang2

My big yellow comes to the surface whenever I feed the bluegill and just gulps up pellets like koi do. It's funny to watch

Do you put the food in easy reach? Mine comes out because he knows if he doesn't the other fish will eat it all.. .

I've been doing it too long to quit now, 50 years now, I don't recognize your user name, who were you again? How did the redfins do?

My memory is poor. I don't remember how i got into contact with you regarding the redfins. It wasn't through this site though (email I think), which is why you wouldn't recognize the username. My name is Jeremy, but I'm sure that wouldn't help you to remember me.

I think the redfins did fine, though i don't remember what ultimately happened to them.

I've been out of the hobby for about 5 years now, but I just recently set up a 33 gallon long native tank with some riffle fish. As far as catfish, I have three small stonecats in the tank.

Stone cats are cool, one of the fish I do not have access to, they don't get as big as yellow bullheads...

I drop sinking pellets in front of his cave. Nothing else would eat them because the only midwaters are 6 giant danios and I know my raph isn't coming out during lights on to get food and my gibbiceps pleco rarely ventures to the left 2' of the tank. Maybe it's because the pellets really blend in with the gravel but I'd think with his barbels that wouldn't be a problem.
