Most common misconceptions of fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
"one inch of fish per gallon of water" I used to use this 4 years ago when I first started in the hobby, but when you think about it, it won't make sense. "Oh! My redtail catfish is 36 inches! So I'm going to give him a 40 gallon just to spoil him!"

Wow! He must be really happy!

Lol I was at petsmart today because I ran out of prime.

I took a look at the fish for fun.

See some nice juvenile ornamental koi.

"Max size 36 inches " recommended tank size "75 gallons"

Which just so happens to be the largest they sell in house lol.

Really it said that? Usually they're supposed to say 75gal per koi

That's what it said.

I can't imagine a 3ft long fish in a 48x18. Thats like a grown man living in a port-a-jon. Lol. I understand they wanna make money, but that's an outdoor pond fish, not an aquarium fish in 99.9% of circumstances.

Not surprising to me though, many goldfish can get large - as with Oscars, pacu, some cats/plecos, etc. People take em home and cram them in fishbowls. Such is the way of the world
