I wouldn't be worried about trying to cross Oscars I'd be worried about that red tail catfish it is going to eat a lot more than fry... Don't know the size but doesn't matter I'll give your convict a couple months then it's lunch meat.

It is in a different tank than the rtc.

Man I miss my red tail one of the coolest fish I ever had but after he outgrew my 220 I had to get rid of him...

I'm breeding convict for the fry to feed my frontosa so I know what you mean about feeding fry

I don't think they can breed...They are not closely related as far as I know..

100% impossible. They're not in the same genus, nor are they from the same region (Cons=CA, Oscars=SA). It would be like trying to breed a Goldfish with a Salmon. Not going to happen......

I want to try and breed a dog w/ a dolphin lol...I just don't get the whole hybrid thing. An Oscar and con hybrid sounds like one ugly fish.

Keep one in a ten gallon. They only grow to the size of the tank.
