My Red Texas project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This section has been a joke. Every post seems like its a "rate my 2" FH I bought from Walmart". No one is either doing or sharing cool breeding projects. Anyways...

I would cross that F1 fader female back to the dad not the brother because he has no pearls.

Yes the constant i.d. threads for what is essentially the same damn fish every time is ridiculous.
The main reason to try to cross back to dad (or better yet an unrelated bigger pearled fish )is that f1 male isn't fertile. Can't breed a fish that shoots blanks. That's a big hurdle to overcome when breeding hybrids.

It doesn't matter how many times someone rereads something, if they are lacking in reading comprehension skills. To which ultimately many of these discussions become a lost cause, and that's unfortunate.

I have no issue with new users to this forum, or to any particular type of fish, we were all new to everything at some point. One of the things I love most about this hobby is its never ending learning curve.

ucantkillme ....... it's all good, no worries, and thank you.

Ok guys...take it down a notch. You guys have been here for a couple of years now. If you think this site is a joke, there's 2 things you can do...leave OR put your money where your mouth is and add some sustenance to this section to improve it.

Just in case that was somehow directed at my previous comment, I never said that this site was a joke, I said;
This part of the forum has become a joke
which IMO it has. I'm not sure what throwing $$$ at it would achieve?

As far as adding to MFK, I would like to think that I have added plenty over the years, including the several topics that have been pinned as stickies. The kind of content that enhances this forum greatly. (I like to think) People who can actually help this part of the forum (the hybrid section) and actually want to help, are starting to pull back for the exact reasons that you see in this discussion.

Unlikely to be fertile but still a possibility. I seen a faded male from an Escondido x KKP that was fertile.

I'm pretty sure Ben wasn't directing the comment at you, others had referenced the site as a whole. He just didn't get specific so as not to make it personal, which hopefully has the effect of making the unnamed party(ies) less defensive and more likely to re-evaluate their comments and change their thought process in that regard moving forward.

As for the finger pointing going on as to a perceived lacking in the site, all I'll say is if there is a lacking in my opinion it's no one group as a whole responsible for it. It's those select few within the groups who either as a new hobbyist become unnecessarily defensive, sensitive and stubborn unable to take advice and grow because of it or as a veteran refuse to tolerate mistakes and take every opportunity to belittle someone for an incorrect post.

There are better ways to communicate and it starts with being tolerant and trying to understand your fellow members. The few individuals who cause unintentional strife in both groups need to realize that to err is human and we all do it. Hopefully those select new hobbyist will stop seeing a mistake as a reason to feel inferior and defensive and be open to new info. and the select veterans will put things into perspective and realize even they make mistakes from time to time and if they're no less then neither is anyone else for making mistakes and be more tolerant and educate people instead of belittling them.

I also have a fertile male f-1. It was a blood parrot x green texas. The mom is actually the same blood parrot the op is using in this project. I find it funny how some people act like they are unicorns or something.

I'm the one that owes you thanks, I grew up around midas and never learned so much till I read a topic you laid cold hard facts on. I never knew the many variations of midas.
If we took time to search the site before asking, we'd see we ask FAQs often basically.

Edit: Moderators, can there be such a sticky, one for FAQs?? Personally, I've seen the "Rules of hybridization" sticky which was very informative for a newbie. Yet, I'm sure a FAQs would set us straight before repeating previous posts.
