I am going to say just a regular flower that was in the middle stage of turning black. Then through the stress of being caught and shipped it started to lighten up.
 
Last pics taken of flower x otorongo bred here in states. They are the two left rays.

ha..not me..i am done with rays but I found this one interesting!
I thought the flower pattern all broken up into spots is interesting!
 
I must live in a box cause I had no idea you could buy live fish including rays on Ebay.

Otorongo with real flower ray. Male otorongo was 18" female flower was 24". Mike at h20 bought the parents when the original owner got out of rays.
