Who decided there was no real grading system and quality was based on personal opinion? That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard of... Have you never heard of FH competitions? They r graded by class for specific traits that class should show... There r guidelines to having a show quality FH for each breed. What makes a FH a high or low quality fish has NOTHING to do with personal opinion. It has to do with the grading scale that is already in place.

If you want to put your fish in a contest go for it!
Looks like you got some nice ones.
The guys at those contest sure know their stuff....
yeah
If you want to submit pictures and information about your fish to a public international website- expect personal opinion to be the end all be all- of all.
If your fish is ugly, if you don't even like it, does it really matter if it wins awards? I say no -but that's just my personal opinion;)
Happy New Year!!

For contest, they do have that for ppl to look to judge. It's a contest for looks.

For personal opinion, in my opinion: that's playing a game. It's just a game. I don't have to play.

Some ppl have ugly fish, to you, that they raise till death. So what ? You don't understand; it's their thing. Just like they don't understand your thing. They think your fish is not their type honestly.

So Unless you bring to contest, then they have the contest standards and stuff.

Quality? To me quality is for me to enjoy. Same to you, so quality is one's opinion.

But if you want quality to win the contest, then you follow those standards to go win that game.

Grading is important. These are selectively bred fish, bred by man to achieve a look or set of traits that are pleasing. If you are breeding and keeping hybrids that are no improvement (or ugly) over the pure fish used to breed them then what is the point? The grading sticky came about when this forums mod was the feel good hippy type (I think). Very detrimental ideas for hybrid enthusiasts.

They grade kok , body n pearls Its real been to couple

Chris was fairly young & inexperienced when he wrote that article, and I guess seeing as no one else was stepping up to write articles or post about things such as grading his thread got pinned as a sticky. I wouldn't be overly harsh on the boy, most of the people posting in this section don't understand grading either. Just take a look at all the "red texas" fish posted here over the past year. Apparently most people posting in this section of MFK actually do believe that quality is based on personal opinion.

Ya I got ya RD... But when this section first became a real section there were many of us who contributed a lot to the sticky section and now they have all since been replaced with useless info like this one... If the Mod of the hybrid section is inexperienced then why not jump on some dedicated FH sites and learn some real info on these beautiful fish. No sense in incorrect info on what is supposed to be the greatest fish site "on the line"... lol
