Are fish the most abused pet?

You should put a warning to that link, some people are sensitive to those graphic pictures

I know, I'm one of them. but the thread title is abuse, what exactly were you expecting a link in a thread describing human atrocities to lead to?
and if you think those are stomach turning, I chose not to put in the link to dogfighting pics.

2.7 million—Number of adoptable cats and dogs euthanized in shelters each year.

when I got my 105 pound lab from the humane society, he weighed 65 pounds, up 10 from when they picked him up a month earlier.

The 2-day-old orphaned animals, nicknamed the "Dumpster Puppies," remained attached to their umbilical cords when they were found on Oct. 29 in Susanville, California.

dogs are ubiquitous with humanity, it's only logical that they would bear the brunt of our brutality and indifference.

food animals might be close, possibly worse. but since it's illegal to report that abuse or film it, report on it, who can tell.

or maybe it's those little white mice that are bred by the thousands for medical experiments. of course dogs get the joy of serving us in that capacity too. like puppies being fed high levels of new antibiotics until their tendons explode.

To be fair, dogs and cats are also being most common abused animals next to the fish.

As for the food animals, do you meant feeders or livestock?

Its hard to compare the two. Yes a lot of fish die from neglect but a lot of dog get some pretty serious physical abuse.
The thing with aquarium fish is that most of them are so much more easily acquired so whole lot more of them are bought and mishandled than dogs and cats.

huh?
look at craigslist pets. where the term adoption is bent enough to mean bred to sell.
got money? you've got a dog.

Lol,I'm trying to keep up with multiple discussions on different forums right now but yeah, fish are a lot cheaper and easier to buy than dogs.

I posted a thread a while back about setting up a memorial tank for my dad at the store my mother runs.

Friday I was doing a 50% water change on a 75g, it took me forever because i have stitches in my dominant hand, I was there for about an hour screwing around (no python or hose access w/e)

I had a dozen or so customers come up to me and ask bizzare and idiotic questions, which I entertained because im passionate about the hobby and want to educate people.

No lie, at least10 of the people commented on how they liked the aquarium and how they had fish but they all died. They acted like I was performing sorcery on the tank while doing a water change.

I soon became irritable and left before I became too unpleasant.

Nobody comes up to you when your walking a dog and says "that's a nice dog, I used to have dogs but they all died"
