Florida gar and black arowana... good idea? bad idea?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It depends on the individual temperment of both fishes. More than likely they will be fine if they are the same size and grow out together. The gar will probably accept the arrow as one of its school. Just keep them both fed very well to eliminate aggression.

I just +1'd that twice lol

I'll take it as a +2 :p

I think I'll wait a bit, and add one when my lfs can get one in for me. No idea when that will be.

My axolotls are breeding right now (started Monday), and the hatchery is going to require a large amount of work. In addition, getting one of the gar to eat things that are not alive is proving to be difficult, and my grow out Polypterus stock is very nearly ready to migrate to the community.

On top of all of this, college is back in session, which means lots of studying. I tutor writing at my University as well. The semester has only just started and already students are flocking in to the writing center expecting me to write their research papers for them :nilly:

In short, my plate is rather full at the moment. Once everything is stable I will attempt it.

I have a 33" Black Aro with two spotted Gar and a T gar. No issues. Its all in my 450 thread but I really need to do some updates :(

I skimmed part of the 450 thread. My only internet access when I am not at work/school is via my phone, so I can't read the whole thing at the moment. Love the set up! Any stunner Poly's in it? I have a large chunk of saved cash, and I am presently trying to get ahold of something around 6-8' long by 4' wide by 2-3' high, but so far I have had absolutely no luck. Drives me crazy. There was an acrylic tank on local cl last summer that met my requirements, but I slept on it and the seller vanished. When the money is there, the opportunities aren't. :irked:

The kicker here is that my investment must be movable, or I would just attempt a diy build. From what I gather diy and movability do not go hand in hand. The move is two years out.

Anyway, I love your background meng! Aquaterra? I might pick up their 'rainforest' one soon enough.

Thanks for the compliment. Yes aquaterra. I got my whole set up for $1000. Ya got to wait for a deal or spend the $ to get what ya want. I'm super happy with my set up.

I find myself on the glasscages site every other day. Buying new just seems like such a poor choice. Fortunately my stock will not outgrow their 180 for at least 1.5-2 years, so there's plenty of time. I need a macro that scans cl for me day in and out. Technological omniscience would certainly be helpful.
