Just bought my dream tank! 540 gallon acylic!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here are a couple pics of the tank the guy sent me. I haven't even seen it yet in person. Once I saw the craigslist add, I just through my money at the guy and said consider it sold lol

He had it set up as a saltwater. I have a ton of cleaning to do.

I didn't purchase much equipment with it because I didn't want to spend money on the expensive saltwater lights and other equipment. I just want to have a lower light set up that enhances the leo/black diamonds white spots in the tank. I will get it buffed before set up as well.

I will need a sump and pump recommendation. This will be in my basement living room so I would like it as quiet as possible. Oh, and I really want to do some stone work on the stand. I love that look!

Any other ideas? Shout them out :)

My question for the monster tank guys is, how do you keep nice soft water? Should I buy myself a RO Unit? Would that even be efficient when I am sure each water change is going to be more then that thing can pump out?

Ok, biggest tank ever was a 265 and getting another soon, but I'd think if you were going to use an RO unit, why not just put the tank on an auto water drip that way you don't have to worry about making a lot of RO water at once?

Would love to do something like this but I would need a expert here to help me. I am horribly with tank plumbing and thinking outside the box Lol All ideas are considered so keep them coming!

I don't know you, but i am very happy for you! Congrats.

Thank you! This hobby has been super important me every since I can remember. I have mainly kept nano fish and love breeding them but have always wanted a tank with these dimensions for stingrays and other fish. My brother and I actually have a 150 gallon fatboy with some very large datnoids. They are just about too large for that tank which is perfect timing for this 540. Plan is to get maybe one or two more unique fish and leave it at that. I like my fish tanks spacious for the fish.
