Best show tank cichlids

If you want a group and lots of color, go with an all male African peacock tank with some type of smaller and more peaceful mbuna mixed in.

There isn'T too much that you can do in a 90 as far as new worlds go if you want a group, IMO. Well, at least not if you want to keep more aggressive species.

No, I never add salt in my tank , and don't keep fish that can't get adjust to my tap water conditions. CA can tolerate greater range of water conditions than Africans, from acidic, brackish to even full strength saltwater in a few species.

I used to keep an all Malawian African tank, but get bored with similar color, body shape and behavior. This is why I like to diversify the species of fish.

Agreed ^^^ personally I think Africans are boring. I see em all the time, and the whole same body shape thing isn't very interesting or Show tank like in my opinion. A 90 is my largest tank of mid size CA Cichlids but I don't look at it like a show tank, more a community above all else. I too have a magnificent GT as my main focal Cichlid. As far as a truly "Show tank" goes I'd have to bump the actual size tank up to a 110 or 125 high, if they even make em.

Did anyone mention Carpintis? I have one with a Synspilum, two EBA's and a Midas. They're all doing really well together in a 90. I also have 7 giant danios in there as well. Good luck finding a GT like those guys have- I've never seen ANY like that ever locally. WOW Tiger you have me re-evaluating my stance on Gold Saums. Cheap green terrors suck. What you have almost looks like a different species to me.
