How long did you keep them? Any reason in particular why you got rid of them?

I had my pair for close to two years. I sold them because I wanted to have some less aggressive fish in my 180 and I didn't have another tank big enough to house them properly. If I had a large fish room with plenty of tank space I would keep them again.

I have had my pair for about 5 years now and I wouldn't think of getting rid of them. Compared to many other Paratheraps species, I find them quite outgoing and interactive, and not particularly aggressive to other species. They have been pair bonded for years and are striking in their appearance ... the white of the male and the orange/black/white piebald of the female.

I was hoping you would see this. I realized most of the videos around are of your pair and you seem to be the only person besides don conkel who has maintained them for a long period of time. Thank you for chiming in

Do you mind if I ask where you sourced them?

They were originally from Conkel's stock and were obtained through aFISHionados (Spencer Jack) in Winnipeg. However, other than that one time, I have never seen them offered locally since.

Thanks everyone. I think all the feed back has helped. I appreciated all the reaponses

Mine is not entirely white, but has dark lower half and what appears to be dark eyebrow. I have him for 3 years, and seems to be maxing out at 11 inch, slightly smaller than typical Vieja. There is no sign he is developing a hump, perhaps because he is not the biggest dominant fish.
