So I've got a 17" channel in a 300g (8'x2.5'x2') and he's becoming more and more aggressive toward the other fish. Currently his tank mates are a 13" RTC, 13" FL Gar, 11" P. Gibbiceps, 9" P. Pardalis. The only real decorations in the tank are a 12"x12" piece of driftwood and the bottom intake/overflow for a closed loop. From some quick research, I found that channels are more aggressive at higher temps and without a place to call their own, so I lowered the temp to 78F (want to keep it up for the RTC), but I've yet to be able to find a suitable "home" for the channel. I looked at PVC pipes, but even a 4" wide one seemed too small for him. I've got some flat rock that I might be able to build something out of, but they're not very big and I don't want it to be flimsy. I also don't want to get rid of him as he's our oldest fish and I'm trying to save him for the pond we're literally about to start building, but if his aggression will continue, even in a bigger pond, I'll accept he needs to be rehomed.
In addition, I'm growing out a number of bichirs, 2 datnoids, oscars and peacock bass for this 300 and if he's going to be aggressive to them, well to quote my wife "if he hurts my pretty fish, i'm feeding him to you."
Welcoming all suggestions and advice.
