Im cutting back on my tankmates and im either keeping the red texas or a Male Salvini... Which of these fish grows up to be more eye-catching and show the best colors? I also would like to know if this Red Texas is a low-grade and wont have amazing colors and if anyone can sex it, and just educate me about these hybrids like what exactly ARE they and etc.

Salvini's are truly magnificent, if you can put up with the sheer aggression and general reclusive nature.

Salvini are my favorite looking cichlid....but man reclusive is an understatement. My male kills every female I've ever put with him and just sits in his cave, all day, every day.

For the salvini it depends on the tank size and how comfortable he feels. I've had no problems getting salvinis to overcome shyness in large tanks (e.g., 210 gal), but I currently have a male in a 50 gal tank and he rarely shows himself. Very attractive fish though - here he is when he was housed in the 210 gal tank before I re-homed him.

Low grade red texas imo. He may "peel" to a darker color, but I doubt he is going to be a stunner. He still is a nice looking little guy/gal though.
