Items from Home Depot:

24 inch container, 1/2 Pvc plugs, pothos plants all for $15.00

Drilled 2 holes for pvc plugs, and screwed on with rubber fittings.

Jet spray water hose test on full blast, and surprisingly it doesn't overflow.

Pothos plant cleaning process and adding black gravel.

I've decided not to use a power head, instead I used one of the small canister instead.

Added egg crate, so jardini arowana doesn't escape.

Forgot to take a picture of the full view on my outdoor aquarium with the overhead aquaponic system.

Here it is before the setup with my emergency quarantine tank on the bottom.

Hope you ladies and gents enjoy my little DIY. Great low budget investment so far!

I like it , personally I would have allowed pothos to grow water roots .:)

These are great diy filters. I built one when I was in a bind and had my fish in a temporary 300g pond. I filled it with matrix and got a cheap $20 700gph water pump. I would love to set up a 6 foot long one on top of my 180

Very cool!

I was going to build a thin canopy and covering the entire top with a tray.

I'd figured all that weight may separate the aquarium seams.

Very cool!

Thanks.

Love it. Though you might want to put the intake of your overflows pointing towards the bottom of the grow bed. As it sits right now it looks like the water flows over the top of the media and out of the overflows. Redesigning the overflows might make it more efficient. That or you could put the spary bar at the bottom of the bed so that the water must rise through the bed to exit via the overflows.

Ah, good advice. My spray bar is on top of the gravel. I'll put it under the gravel once I get home.

Thanks for the tip.
