HELP is my motoro ray going to make it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Rays swim the sides of the tank.

That is heater burn and now looks like "death curl".

If you ever try another ray you must cover the heaters and/or incorporate a sump to keep the heaters in.

It is easy to think "heaters are not that hot...they are in water". If you ever touch one when they turn on in that water you will think different. Rays do not have scales to protect them from getting burns.

Aww really? That sucks most of the time all my ray ever did was sit there and look pretty so is there any way I can fix the "heater burn or disc rot"?

That ray is doomed unfortunately. Like people said move and cover the heaters. They are going to be very inefficient at the top of the water like that anyway.

Yea I just took the heaters off and my thermometer reads 80 but it doesn't really feel like 80 oh well at least now I know my mistakes and won't do them again next time I get another motoro it's a shame such a beautiful animal doomed

And the disc looks like it's curling more so I guess that's not a good sign either

You will have better luck if you can find a captive bred ray. Unfortunately this one will not survive.
As stated, cover those heaters before getting another ray. They will work ok below the outfall of your filter, but you might want to move them lower so they aren't exposed at water changes.
