I picked a couple of these up about a month ago but I cannot find much information on them.

I am wondering how big they get, and how fast they grow?

Also, if you have them, what are you feeding them? Mine have only eaten flakes, although I have been trying to get them on pellets. So far they have gotten the pellets in their mouth, but then they spit them back out?

Has anyone bred them? I know a guy here in Minnesota has, I haven't been able to reach him though.

So if you have them, or have had them, if you could post your experience with them I would really appreciate it!

Size, care and feeding would be the same as normal Blue Acara (Andinoacara pulcher). These are just a line bred color morph, like Electric Blue Jack Dempsey;s. Expect an average size of 4" - 7" depending on sex. Growth would be steady until 4" or so, then slow down drastically. As far as pellets goes, make sure they are a appropriate size, then starve the fish for a few days. They are, more then likely, just reluctant to try a different food. They’ll give in eventually.

I had three, two of which paired young and produced eggs but ate them. As far as growth I've never had regular Blue Acara's so I can't compare the two but the EBA's weren't particularly fast growing. Not surprising considering their max size. Aggression while not as intense as some other cichlids they can beat on each other quite hard if not given enough room. As for feeding them goes I never had a problem with them accepting pellets but I'd imagine any successful method used on other fish should work on them. You an try starving but I like soaking the pellets in blood/black worms or soaking them in shrimp water, etc,etc which will help soften the pellet and hopefully make the pellet more palatable to the EBA's. As time goes on decrease soaking time and it will increase firmness of pellets till they're taking them regularly.

I had some and they would eat anything I put in the tank. I got mine for under $3 at a pet supplies plus because they were in the Dempsey tank and the guy didn't know any better. Very active fish and they will breed true. After they get adjusted they should eat what ever you give them. I had my 2 in my 75 grow out with my Mono Pbass but they kept picking on the bass so I traded them in. Mine grew about 1.5" in 2 months so if feed good they will grow fast. I really haven't seen any larger than about 5" but I'm sure they can get bigger.

Thank you for the answers!

You are lucky you got yours for $3/ea,
I paid $25 each!

Mine haven't grown much, but I know that is because all they have been eating has been flakes. The pellets are the tiny Omega One super color small sinking, so they definitely aren't too big.
Mine at about 2 inches right now, I think I have one male and one female but I can't be sure.

Tiger Barbs okay as tank mates?

I've seen them go for 39.99 I got mine for nine bucks because they were about to drop dead from ich. Mine share a tank with giant danios, a midas, synspilum, carpintis and some cories. Before that they were in quarantine with guppies and got along fine with them, I'm sure barbs should be ok.

Here's some pics of mine. I got it when it was about 2 1/2 inches, it's currently pushing about 4". The day after I put it in my tank it started eating hikari gold medium sinking pellets like every one else lol. I tried giving it some smaller ones but didn't go for them. Tankemates: Red Severum, Geophagus Altifron, EBJD, Green Phantom Pleco, Albino Bristlenose, & 9 different tetras. Everyone gets along great but the Geo & Sev have a scuffle every now & then.
