OK, that's what I was guessing because I was told in a post a long time ago that they were both females. Last night, I came home to a BUNCH of eggs!! I'm wondering how/if they'll turn out. I was surprised because I always thought they were both females. My JD has the spots under eyes and by it's mouth which I was told and I read were tell tell signs of female.

Me too! Most of the eggs are buried in the gravel...is this normal behavior?

I have tried finding pics of the JD/FESTAE hybrid online and have found NOTHING. I can't find any topics on the 2 either

check out the thread asking for synspillium ID. I think it is a JD/Festae hybrid. I honestly don't think Festae hybrids look good because out of all the hybrids I have seen the red doesn't show through. I am guessing both parents have to carry the festae gene to get the bright red orange. I saw a red devil x festae on youtube and it was just mud brown.

I saw that fish and it doesn't look hybrid to me at all, looks like a stressed out jd. Check out a manaconda, easily my favorite hybrid out there. It's a managuense festae mix. I've seen con x festae that have a lot of red in them also.

I'm rooting for this hybrid, I have a feeling it will look awesome. Any combination of the two should come out cool. Great looking fish, congratulations. Please keep a fry update if everything works out.
