Group of Pikes?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I bought a bunch of crenicichla vittata for my 300 gallon. They get big 24 inches and are pretty peaceful they're "gentle giants" of the pike world. They're a type of lacustris pike.

Note: However lacustris pikes are normally extremely aggressive. Vittata seem to be the exception. Vinny kutty reports Cr. Lacustris (rio ipaterim) was extremely aggressive, Cr. Punctata too, I also note my Punctata Blue33 took being a a-hole to another level.

So good news guys. A guy at "the swedish MfK" group is doing a direct order from Colombia and Im going to get my hands on a group of Atabapo Red's

He has Small,Medium,Large to choose from.

Is it safest to go with small to get a group working together or could medium work aswell?

I Will probably order 8-9 fishes and then sell the ones who gets to bulliges until I have a more stabil group.

I'd get a group of small pikes. That way you can get more than med pikes plus smaller lugubris get along better

I see you points... Just not looking forward on having small ones for almost 2 years before theyre big and bad ass... Will also probably order some Hoplarchus Psitticatus (true parrots) to raise them with and they where only available as Medium size so I guess I need the pikes in medium to so they dont get eaten.

Small lugubris can grow very fast given proper conditions often being able to hit 10+ inches in less than a year... Psitticatus aren't a very predatory fish you should be fine ordering the small pikes IMO there was a thread here years ago someone kept really small 2 inch xingu II pikes with a huge psitticatus. Either way good luck
