Hi there,

I have a 75 gallon tank with 2x eheim 2217 and my current stocking are the following:

1 x convict
1 x rainbow shark
4 x cory catfish
9 x tiger barb
7 x serpae tetra

I'm thinking of adding a school of 4-5 rainbow cichlid.
Would my bioload be alright?

Thanks!

Tank sounds cool with all the schooling like to see a vid.

Looks like more than enough space for all fish :/and with the schooling I'd find it hard to see the rainbow shark harassing any fish, good job!

I think you're in the clear.

I'd just watch the temperament of the convict.

A shocking development here..

I actually like the thought of keeping schooling fish and I chose tiger barbs because I thought they were feisty enough to hang with the convict. I closely monitored the situation for several days and I observed that the convict did not even bother anyone so I was shocked to see this.

This all happened under the cover of darkness. I don't trust the Con anymore with any of its other tankmates. If I gave it a new home, would a Severum be okay as a replacement, in addition to the rainbow cichlids?

Hey jaws what's up how's your obricularis doing? Remember this thread whom you've helped me with? http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?587692-Bumblebee-Oscar-Help

Unfortunately, my BB Oscar found its way to the floor and the convict I posted above was the original tankmate of the oscar. I was very attached to that O and it upset me that he died. One of the reasons why I chose schooling fish is because I think you don't really get emotionally attached to them because you can't tell them apart. And you could always replace them when one dies cause they're relatively cheap. Of course other people may have a different point of view. I guess the convict has to be rehomed as well..

Hey long time not talk lol. Sorry about the O man that sucks. Your not gonna believe it but i ended up rehoming him to another member. My son wanted more fish in the tank and i wanted to get into ca. With his size and aggressiveness it wouldnt work, i made my boy choose he wanted a pearsei and heterospilus.

I'm sure under your care any fish would thrive in your tank. Your oscar was very cool though. :)

If I remove the convict would the following stocking be okay:

x1 severum
x8 tiger barbs
x7 serpae tetra
x1 rainbow shark
x4 cory cats
x5 rainbow cichlid

Thanks

I dont know i have no experience with rainbows...my concern would be how aggressive can they be if paired up. Me i would leave the severum as the centerpiece of the tank and with all that schooling going on it would look great. Im trying to convince my son to get rehome the rainbow fish we use for dithers and go with tiger barbs say 10ish i love the way they school.

Wait for others to chime in about the rainbows cichlids though. Thanks for the compliments but its all stuff ive learned from other members
