Is this aggressive behaviour common in tank by Hoplias ?

Hi guys just looked at these pics of Hoplias aimara being aggressive to a peice of tube/pipe! Is this normal with hoplias? we know most predator fish are aggressive in the wild homes! But put into tank where foods easy and they can become like puppie dogs!

People lose nets for days in these tanks because they can't put their hands in to retrieve them, I believe its just natural aggression for the species. Maybe he's agitated, or nervous in the tank.

Is the aimara the most aggressive of the Hoplias family?? and you could always catch this fish by getting one of the family to try first :grinyes:

On average. Though they are the largest species so I assume their territory would be larger and this would be the reason. But it all comes down to the specific fish.
 
Aimara are very incredible fish.

When you give them a tank it becomes theirs. The aggression they display is special, seems it's only towards people. Never seen mine act that way to another fish.

So aimara are safe fish to keep with other large fish with no problems? as thinking of getting one to put in mixed oddball tank!

Just dont wont to get up one morning to see bits of fins and torn off heads in fishtank lol
 
I've heard they are not crazy aggressive as people think. They kind of just sit around all day but I still wouldn't put my hand near the business end of that fish
