Fish spa is becoming more and more popular here, I've never been there personally.
I thought the idea was that garra rufa eat dead skin tissue off of your feet, that's it.

In a recent ad. from one of the spa they claim that G. rufa locate nerve ends in your feet, so they calm your body, increase your bloodflow, renew your skin etc. etc.

So... are they full of it, or is there any truth to all these claims?

Sounds like great advertisement to me. I've always wanted to try one of those fish spas. Anyone tried it?

An aquarium had one you could dip your hand into and I will admit it did take care of all the hangnails and dead skin. They went crazy trying to suck on the scars but didn't do anything.

I had a Garra rufa a while back that I kept in a 5.5g as a middle eastern stream tank. He never showed any signs of wanting to feed on skin and fed happily on bloodworms and algae wafers. Died a few weeks later after jumping out of his covered tank three times in a day. My point though is that they eat dead skin because they starve the fish which are then looking for something to eat.

I would like to try it. my nasty feet would be a treat for them

but I heard you can get certain infections as well. i'd still do it though one day.

I wanna go to those pools that you can go neck deep. not sure they have em here in the states though
