Certain fish importers can get a license and import fish. plus xingu cichla are becoming captive bred they're on segrest's lists as of now so I think we may or may not be seeing them more often. Don't really know piranhas well but don't xingu piranha cost a lot usually? Probably smuggled or a hassle to get into the states

Wy the no collecting on the Xingu? is it bacouse over fishing/collecting in last 10 years or so! or other reasons? like dangers to collecting them?

From what I understand, they are restricted for ten years to let populations in the wild get built back up. The ten years is up next year if the info I received is correct. I think the limit on the export of them is 10,000 per year, starting in 2016. I sold all 10 of my group to a fellow in Atlanta that drove up to get them from me in the summer of 2007, I think. I still have his name and # I think. I'll try to find it for you Crenicichla444, like we talked about.

Probably like $200 for starters for a 8" fish but eventually will drop once a lot of vendors get them.

+1 they're going to be pricey... DEFINITELY well worth it though, Xingu 1 are one of the most beautiful pikes too bad they were so common back then when any average joe could get one for $15 and keep it in a 55 with a oscar lol
