Lol, I recently went to a lfs and asked for a special fish. I thought the owner and I had a mutual friend, but the owner couldn't remember the friend, so that went over nice

You will need to speak a "right language" with these LFS's to be consider "friend" to them to get your "special fish" :D

Overall, Azusa Pet World is by far the best LFS in the SGV for me. I went to everyone of them over there a month ago and they just felt ****ty.
The owner's wife is Thai and she's very nice all the time. They have some of the best drift wood I've seen too.

on topic, the lady at Azusa pets will often give you discounts if she recognizes you. or just strike a friendly conversation as you come in and check out, and she'll just tell you she gave you 10% off
