Thoughts on Fancy Goldfish

I feel bad for those super fat ones that can hardly swim

some of them are so fat you can't even call it swimming. they almost crawl on the bottom and glide really

Simply not true. If they are too fat to swim, they have been improperly cared for or are sick or both, which is typically the case, one following the other.

Absolutely incorrect. This is a video of a sick and improperly cared for fish.

Bloat is caused by improper feeding, overfeeding and poor water quality. Are these fish prone to it? Yes. Can it be avoided, yes.

Your statement is incorrect and misleading.

What you should of said is: "see what can happen when one doesn't properly care for a fancy short bodied goldfish".

Further, there is a good chance that this fish has ingested an amount of gravel as well.

Point being i've had a fancy goldfish do this. Guess what, i over fed it. It was my error. I don't know of a swim-bladder sink type fancy goldfish that is sold as such - you see what I mean?

I admit being uneducated about them, but I can read a novel from you about how to care for them and how special they are, you're not gonna convince me

I think the extent of how fat they are and how they move is unnatural and a little cruel. it would be like breeding pigs to have chicken legs.

sure they may live long lives, be well cared for, but it doesn't make it right

I'm not trying to convince you. But you must understand the video you posted and comment you made was, well, in a word uneducated, as you described your knowledge of Fancy Goldfish.

If you don't know what you are doing with fancy goldfish you'll have sick fish that float or sink. But its worth it in the end.

And my view is far from clouded. They are expert level fish. and even then you better have a handle on everything all the time, or a pond.
