So finals are finally over, whichcmeans I can finish my 300g project. One of the last things I need to do is attach a piece of vinyl tubing to the nozzle beneath my bulkhead...but I can't get the bloody thing to fit. I've tried holding the tubing next to the coil in my oven, using water as lubricant... I'm out of ideas. This is frustrating. None of my local stores sell standard, clear vinyl tubing in the size I need. The hot tub hose is alleged to be the correct size.

I use a lighter to heat it up, then a pair of channel locks. Heat up the tube and put it on the outside of a pair of pliers and keep opening them and rotating the hose. This will take a while and you will have to reheat the hosing a few times. Just be patient. Use a hose clamp when finished.

I always boiled a pot of water, stuck the end in the boiling water (how long depends on rigidity of tubing), took it out and got it on the barb real quick, and clamped it down with a hose clamp. Worked great everytime, somtimes requires some muscle work, and will probably require you to cut it off once it cools if you want it off lol.

One thing you always gotta remember, never get attached to the hose.

Shortly after typing this post, I boiled the end. It worked like a charm. Pics to come, I need to finish setting up the sump, but I think I'm going to do another fill test. My sump got pushed around a lot last night--gotta make sure it isn't going to leak. Thanks for the advice guys! I can't wait to get my fish in here.
