Good Sources for Quality Discus?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats all personal preference! If it was me it would be discus only tank. Every discus keeper has their own opinion on whether or not to keep angels with discus.

I'll think I'll try it and worst case scenario I have to move the fish around.

Thanks for the information.

Just keep in mind to QT your new fish! What size discus are you planning on getting? The only thing i can see wrong would be the aggression of the angels when its time to eat other than that you should be ok but then again it depends on the size of your discus.

I've Learned about quarantine in saltwater losing some $$$ fish from non proper quarantine.

I was thinking of picking up juvies from aquascape- http://www.aquascapeonline.com/prodView.asp?idproduct=539&item=Heckel Discus

I'm going to pick up some peat moss and a few trash barrels to start conditioning water for water changes and acclimation.

Could I put 4-5 heckels in with a bonded pair of angelfish, a school of diensons barbs, and a small school pictus catfish?

Heckel Discus need warm water ~85 to 87, Dienson barbs are cool water fish ~75 to 80 tops a bonded pair of Angelfish if they breed will harass the Discus too much, Pictus cats can get too hyper.

Heckel Discus only tank with a group of Blood fin tetras would work.

Just received a order from them today :) Erwin hooked it up! Looks like their around 4-4.5" perfect to grow out hopefully the angels don't get to worked up on the pecking order! They use RO mix with a PH around 7.2. The stock i received today went into RO mix also and so far doing good!

I'll cancel the idea of tank mates and make sure I'm not going to go broke for nothing then.:)
