The MFK Facebook page recieved a question today from a concerned member.

This member has a 20 year old 150 gallon tank. The crossbraces are starting to come loose, and she's not entirely sure what she should do to fix the issue. Can anyone help?

Is the tank in use or is it empty?

contact the manufacturer/LFS/or even glasscages.com and order a new trim piece. Should be less than $40.

Drain the tank, pop the old one off and silicone the new brace on.

There's other less practical (jerry rigging) or expensive (eurobracing) but a new trim piece is your best bet

if it's one of the older style aquariums then the glass is very thick. I would silicone two pieces of glass 1/2" lengthwise across the tank. both being 3-4" wide

My first big tank was an old 125 that had no cross braces and siliconing the glass strips in place did the trick until I retro fitted it with a modern top frame.
Btw how'd the braces get broken?
