My bichirs at 2015

I've always wanted to get a picture of me holding one of my polys like that, but my Florida gar is intent on not letting it happen.

I know what you mean Dr. B--my trop gars zero in on my hands when I'm working in the tank.
 
Lol I hope my gar doesn't develop that attitude my hand goes in the tank pretty often .... I surprisingly have a few polys that do not mind my touch at all for example my ornate will let me actually take him out of the water and just chill in my hand doesn't seem to mind at all .... But some I have will go crazy if I do more than rub a finger across the back :..... I rarely do this tho to avoid stress

I had a CB teug that was the same way. She was a rescue that I grew to about 6" and I could always handle her easily. I have a few others like that, but not nearly to the same degree. But like you said, it causes stress so I try my hardest to not do it too often.

I once took out a bichir and was amazed at how she let me touch her and caress her and sing to her....... until I realized....it was dead...... :oops:
