Cheap UV worth it for Quarantine tank?

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with using a cheap uv like this SunSun in qt to make sure nothing gets ich etc? I'm not sure if it would even kill ich or just make the water clearer. Just don't want to spend $100 on something that won't be used a lot.

That one would be best for killing algae, not bacteria or parasites.

For a uv light to kill bacteria the flow has be drastically lowered as mentioned above. I would just treat fish the old fashion way in a QT with heat and salt if your questioning the price point.

It looks like American aquarium products takes a similar model and slows the flow. I wonder if you wrap it in a filter pad the flow would be slow enough to allow phase one sterilization?
