It's been 8 years since I've had my tanks set up, setting up my 180 for peacock bass, datnoids, arowanas, polypterus, and other monster fish. Can I use any of these fish for cycling? It's been a while.

Well, No one can stop you using your prize fishes for cycling new tank but it can be an expensive tester fish

You can if you can afford it but most aquarist wouldn't consider it. I cycled my tank after a few years off with the common feeder goldfish.
Just let food rot in there. Or dump in pure ammonia. You need to cycle to the amount of waste you'll have. 1 guppy won't "cycle" a tank for a dozen large fish.
