advice for keeping and ebjd

nothing happens randomly just out of the blue. where there is a effect there is a cause.
it is the law of cause and effect. whether it be a malfunction in equipment or something
as simple as human error.

It's not random but it may appear random. If one does not practice quarantine before adding new fish or plants to a tank then illness can go from one tank to the next unknown to the owner.

before you said "random" and now your saying "appearing to be random"...
w/e if the info provided helped the op then thats all it matters.

then you should have no problems since you already put up a divider to separate the two fish.
One the topic of the dividers; Make sure its in right. Had a messy case with my old Jag and Dempsey with myself not making sure the divider was secure. The fish are stronger than they look!

Agree 100%, had a nasty case of HEX because I didn't quarantine!

I litterally put quotation marks around random to show that, while it was not the actually meaning, it was being substituted as an understood term. I then revised it to make it more understandable for anyone who might have not gotten it the first time. As you stated, the OP is the one we ultimately want to answer and to do that more effectively in the future I recommend you attempt to understand what the OP says instead of belligerently tell them they are wrong. Unwatching this thread, I don't particularly like Internet aurguements, but feel free to message me with any questions OP. I've had/have several EBJD and also am in contact with a breeder if you have any questions I can't personally answer.

yea dividers can tend to be difficult I had to improvise to make sure the fish couldn't get in or out. all of the info was useful. when I said random it was mainly because like I said im new at this fish stuff and im learning as I go so I could probably get some kind of issue in my tank and not even realize it. but like I said before my fish seem to be thriving so I must be doing something right!

im just scared that this expensive fish isn't going to die on me!

Cross my fingers

wasnt arguing with you just simply stating the fact that things dont just happen

the op wrote "I guess they are just more sensitive to everything like random illness I suspect"
and to answer that comment i wrote that nothing happens randomly without a cause. i wasnt
arguing with you just simply stating the fact of the laws of cause and effect. unless your like
the op who is new to the hobby most hobbyist that have intermediate to advanced or even some
what knowledge of the hobby will notice signs of a fish starting to get ill and will not seem like
"it just randomly appeared because you didnt notice it" but to each their own im not a expert i'm
just sharing the little knowledge i know.

what i like to do with dividers is wedge them between rocks or driftwood on both sides
to secure it since sometimes they fall off the suction and what not or which ever means its
being held with. if you want to leave the divider in the tank and want it permanent you can
also break the tank down and silicone the divider to the tank and if you later choose to take
it off you can use a razor to peel the silicone off and take the divider out.

that's a good idea. thanks for the input. and yes you are right anyone would notice their fishes behavior acting abnormal. I just wouldn't really have a clue as to why. or maybe I just am not giving myself enough credit. idk. all my fish seem really happy
