Hey guys is this a male or female?? There's two jags the one in the top photo is the vented one20150702_142806.jpg 1437624772595-995307813.jpg 1437624871173-999807937.jpg 1437624900591-708619833.jpg 1437624923395957866835.jpg 1437624967671273135380.jpg 14376251710062097777061.jpg 1437625317125945078544.jpg

IMO I think you have one male and one female. The one with the bars mode broken up and more spots looks like the male. The one I'm guessing as female has a similar pattern as my old one did. That's just my guess I would PM evz jardini he has a jag pair and could give you a better guess

The bottom two pics are the one I'm saying is male for sure it seems.

Ok cool. Cheers. I'll sell the female as i dont want to breed. Yeah the one you think is male i thought was too. Awesome. Do you know why the female is more aggressive than the male. The male cowers from her and so does the festae male lol

It may be a parachromis thing but I recently got a Red Tiger Mota and was trying to get a male so I picked the largest most aggressive guy. I was talking to SpacejamsPR (that is his youtube channel) and he said the female grow faster and are more aggressive at first in RTM, and that 6 he sold to a buddy all got killed by a single female in the group. I'm not sure if it is that way for Jaguars but my female was very passive until around 5 inches as a Oscar around 8 inches bullied her. One day she just let it loose on the O and the O was all tore up behind the filter. I have also noticed on Jaguars the Female's head is a bit different shape than the males. And Females are pretty neat. I personally grew onto the lateral blotches being defined more so than liking the males pattern. But it all depends on what you want! and Females can get by in a smaller tank to which is a plus because mine was in a 75

Ahh nice info.... yeah the females do look very nice but as i have a male festae, zonatus and jd in the tank as well I think if a pair was to Form a 6×2×2 isn't big enough for something nasty not to happen. I do like the gold shine she gets though.

I am seeing a male and female as well. again a chance to show off my jag pair. apply them to yours and see if you see the same thing.

They are really nice pops. Yeah it is a female (99%) they are starting to show pairing behavior I think . . . A lot of tail swaying and gill flaring. The new one I got which I thought was a male ( the bottom pics) Is now being aggressive towards the suspected female. He flares at her but then she sways around at him. Is this a show of dominance or breeding? My big zonatus puts an end to it pretty quickly he is 12 inches lol

female will more than likes test the male, expect some lip locking and few scales to fly. watch the male, if the female is not receptive to him he can be a real wife beater. I have to keep my pair apart cept for spawning. once she has layed and he has done his duty the divider goes back up.
