It does Kevin, SDs are just to help cycle. They will go in 340 with Marbles and Scats, Blacks and Armatus will go in here.

How did I miss this thread? The occasional text message with photos kept me in the loop but man..... this tank is NICE! Good work Don.

Added the SDs about a week ago to help cycle and went out to the river and collected some decent driftwood yesterday. Hopefully it sinks fairly soon or I will screw some thick slate to them so they will.....

The wood looks good floating. At least it clears the floor area for the rays to swim. You can add some root type vines for a riverine effect/look.

Thanks Sean, see what you miss by not logging in at least once in a while........

While I like the wood on top its really not feasible with no way to keep it there once its ready to sink, short of drilling holes in top to tie it off with rope and that isnt happening.

Most rays that I have kept utilize the wood by swimming on and over it. They swim on it and scrape eating the algae off. So while it might remove some some floor space it gives them other items to chew and search for food under. Plus both large pieces allow room to swim under.

understand, if you need to have it float, you can use the foams from computer parts tied by ziptie on top of the wood. The foam will keep it buoyant. The black foams will be unnoticeable and will blend in perfectly. to keep it place (in one section of the tank and not wander around) I use fishing lines attached to a heavy duty suction cup

Happened to me on a large driftwood I bought and done everything to sink it but didn't happen. ended up just letting it float.

The wood is big and nice for the rays to play around and not easy to find big display pieces like that.
