Sure enough my nice male died and was able to pick this one up. Only one I could find outside of Philadelphia went to multiple LFS and petsmart and Petco. There was another maybe male in the tank but had HITH bad. Didn't want anything to do with that so picked up this one. Just want to know the sex and am hoping for a male. Fish is currently 2.5-3". Tried checking the vent but it's too small to see. Have not seen any markings on the dorsal fin so maybe male? I'm 50/50 on this one along with the few people I asked. Some said the body is shaped like a female? Really unsure might just be too small

Here are a few more pictures really can't get a proper ID. At some angles I think male others female. But there are no markings or development of markings on the dorsal.

I'd say female just by the shape of it

I agree with you like 90%. It's weird some angles I'd say no doubt male other angles no doubt female. He is starting to get thick from the pectoral fins to his head but then his dorsal fin is really tall so I think it might be female and I should see black on the dorsal soon. Guess I'll still be on the hunt for a male

Here's my male zz, paired with a female a bit smaller.

It's a zz fader male. Thankfully it faded because it has nothing else going for it. Weak flowerline and pearling fading will save it from being a bland fish.
