Question about an adult red devil

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Welcome to SA/CA cichlid behavior.....you have a nice chunky specimen there....and he can go without food for 3 - 4 days....it also varies from fish to fish....I got 2 adult midevils and they moved to a community tank and both started eating from day1.
I believe few behaviors gets altered with its occupants in the new tank too( like aggression , pecking order , excitement while feeding , competition...etc)

He can go weeks easy without any food. You probably would not even notice weight loss for a month or longer. It often takes fish that get transported and put in new surroundings a little while to eat.

+1 dont worry until its been a few weeks, i rescued a 14 inch oscar recently that took 2 weeks, he gradually started taking 2-3 medium hikari pellets after that daily... he takes 10-20 now but im sure 80% comes back outta his gills lol!-)

Well, it's been about three days, last night I decided to take like 15 Hikari pellets and soak them in Seachem Galicguard, he didn't touch them, but he investigated them constantly. This morning they were gone, I thought he was over it so I put a few in there again without the garlic crap, he decided he was not going to eat them. We will see if they are gone in the morning again.

Try feeding him some Minos, alot of pet store chains feed their stock live food, I would stay away from gold fish, cause their known to carry diseases! Good luck he should be fine most likely adjusting to his new home,,,,
