Hey guys,

Is it possible to give a puffer (Fahaka or more like Mbu) a diet that makes it so you don't have to teeth trim?

What would be good for this?

Cheers,
Troy.

Yup, basically if you feed them with more or less a crunchy diet consisting of things such as;

Cray fish / clams / snails / mussels etc then you should be able to get away without the need to trim their teeth...

The only species known to potentially still have have teeth problems with a crunchy diet are the South American puffer (Colomesus asellus)

Thanks guys, i won't ditch the dream of puffers because i'm deterred by the notion of having to tooth trim.

Cockles!cockles and more cockles with calms snails etc I have never needed to trim teeth and I fin that cockles are by far the hardest shell and the best for grinding down the teeth as they have a sort of sandpaper like surface on the shell.most people that seem to have tooth over growth issues are the ones that seem to feed alot of shrimp or prawns which just don't have hard enough shells.don't be put off they are amazing fish to keep!
