Hi I've had these fish about 4 years, started with 8 x 1.5 inch juveniles to get this breeding pair. They were sold to me as Motaguensis. I'm now having my doughts as I've been told they look more friedrichsthalii maybe la ceiba. IMG_20150809_090730.jpg IMG_20150915_085724.jpg IMG_20150915_081735.jpg IMG_20150915_083039.jpg

They are rtm x original fred. Not La Ceiba to me. But I can see why; because they are mix of both rtm x fred

Great looking pair...I am by no means an expert... I feel like the more I learn about these fish The more I realize there is much I don't know...Just looking at them they struck me as the gold variant of mota as you had Stated..The head shape on that male seems most mota to me..I could be wrong on this but male motas seem to be the only other parachromis besides dovii that get what can definitely be called a prominant nuchal hump.....However I can see how one could say that they are or could at have Freddy mix in them based on that intense yellow...Definitely the lighting that you have them under now seems to accentuate that yellow because in the other photos when they were younger under different lighting they look completely like motas to me...

I'll take this opportunity to show pics of mine for comparison ...I use every excuse I get to show mine lol...
Just want to say to all that The original poster Mr Andy woods is no novice.. He has one of the most outstanding collections you'll see, if you haven't already i urge you to look at his YouTube videos...look up Andy woods cichlids UK...

Thank you for your reply. Think you have clarified what I was told 4 years ago when I first got them as juveniles. I was sold these from a reputable dealer as F1 tiger moto. Not rtm, just tiger moto, gold variant. Think you are correct in saying the light there under is bringing out the yollow colouring. When she spawns her gill plates go a beautiful orange colour. It's just others put dought in my mind. Let me say you have a beautiful pair of rtm, that females stunning. Thanks for the YouTube plug. That was my first fish room tour. Maybe do some more if people like to see.

You're welcome...Yes I mentioned your video and collection as a whole because you have very much the specialist Collection of cichlids...When you say you have a reputable dealer your collection gives evidence as such....And again in that second set of photos Your fish look most Like motaguense than anything else...Thanks about my fish, the female I posted is not the one I currently keep With the my male, i felt she looks a lot like your female in body structure...Going back to your collection ,you have Plenty of material and projects going on for multiple forum threads and youtube videos... Hope to see many In the future
