Tank Mates for a Erythrinus Erythrinus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Helps to keep them calm and acting normal. Cudas are same as well. Groups of 4 or more will make them not stress. Plus always looked better with 3-4 in the upper zone area.

Ok cool thank you. I am interested in them for sure. Im going to do some more reading. I would really like to have 3 different types of fish in the tank. Would that be possible with any of these? I have kept tanks before, but never larger aggressive fish like these so Im not really sure how many overstocking would be. I like the cudas and the hujeta, but I also like the scom, bush fish, and bichir. Haha so I guess what could I do, if anything, to have 3 species in the tank?

The fish you mentioned should bell ok. The scomberoides need to be small and the other fish large. Or the other fish gotta be adult size as most scombs are like 5-6 inch coming in. They can take out a small bush fish or a small cuda. These fish will come in small but as adults unlikely. Keep in mind.

Ok thanks I appreciate it! I am really leaning more towards the hujeta, the more I see about them I really like them. So I am thinking the wolf (he just came in a hour or so ago btw he's awesome! About 3.5in) 3 or 4 hujeta, and then maybe the bush or that bichir. Probably come down to what I come across first in the right size.

Great...get some pics in and let's see that wolf!

There's more than 3 type of cudas but not sure about yellow specifically.
I know that, the red, and then I've read if there being 3 different species sold as yellow tails, idk of anymore though lol. Maybe you're talking about more that I don't know of, I would assume so.

I'd do the wolf a delhezi and Senegal, and I'd try to locate some red barracudas, some silver dollars. And pictus catfish. They're always on the move. And I'd probably add some other species as I find something available that I believe I could comm with the rest. I think that'd be a cool tank though.

Thanks I am going to soon! I have been busy tonight building the tank for my 75g, so tomorrow I will be sure to get a picture!

That would be really cool to have all that. My 75 would be able to house all of those once they are fully grown, or just for a while?

This was one of exact old tanks back when I was in school. Can be done and had more polys at the time in a 100g.

I guess I have been under the impression that I could only have a few large fish in this tank. I plan on having live plants in it, and I am running an Emperor 400 hang on the back. I am not sure exactly how to tell how many fish I can house ok in this. If I were to do all those what would my numbers probably look like? Could I possibly do the hujeta instead of the cuda?

You can do the cudas or hujetas. Just pick 3 hujeta and ur set. The cudas will be 4 or more. But watch ur water parameters as more fish added. Wouldn't add the silver dollars. They will destroy plants. Would add like 2-3 bush and 1-2 Polypterus and ull be good. The zones will be set and need to watch ur water.
