Haha....I know a little bit about turtles and tortoises but I doubt if I would have tossed it into a pond even it it was a turtle.I would have just placed it near the water and let it go where it wanted. It seemed like quite a drop before it hit the water, the impact could have caused some harm. Its typical social media, tried, convicted and ridiculed from a 14 second you tube snip.
No apology needed and no one is arguing,we are just having a discussion.I think it's great that the schools in your area have such programs in place,it helps people know and appreciate their surroundings. In a lot of areas people miss out on such material and won't take the time to learn on their own unless they have a particular interest in nature.I'm sorry if people disagree but I think it should be common sense? I've never seen a turtle or a tortoise that wasn't on tv, but I still knew the difference..
For the last five years or so, the schools where I live have had local wildlife rangers come around two or three times a year and teach the kids about our native wildlife, and invasive species - and what to do/who to call if you find either or. Its a shame more schools don't do something like it..
Also, I'm not trying to argue, sorry if it comes across that way..
