Please, put me out of misery - tell me this is a typo :)

I really don't like catfish in the tank--the "ugly ones"....but the sleek slender ones, flat headed ones, those look great. I like Pleco's, but they scratch up acrylic.

Problem is, cats I like get like 2-3 feet long. I'd love a Tig, or maybe even a TSN, and MAYBE I could keep one in my tank, but I only have 1 big tank. If there's a problem, I don't have 2-3 big enough tanks to rehome it to. No WAY I could trade a 2 foot TSN to my LFS--they'd laugh at me.

I might try a Lima Shovelnose, or a Vulture cat maybe. Something bulletproof that can live with CA cichlids?

I didn't not expect a serious answer to a playful comment, but it's nice :)

I hear you. How about the close relatives of Pimelodidae, which you appear to like, the Heptapteridae from CA? Rhamdia quelen is one rather available and is fun, smart, quirky, boisterous, maxes out at 1'.

Might not be flat and slick enough for your fancy but you be the judge and you can browse through others.

Catfish being nocturnal....do they stress cichlids by keeping them awake at night?

If the cichlids are not their prey, then I'd think not. Besides, I am not so sure fish sleep or sleep much or if it is really sleeping or just more stationary rest time. Do they?

Well, when I walk in at night and turn on the tank lights, my fish are all laying on the bottom or vertical in a corner. The color's all gone out of em, and they don't move at all for a few minutes. I could net any one of em and they wouldn't care. Yea, mine sleep.

I see. Interesting. Sounds like what I've heard discus do. It'd be a fun video to see them wake up. Again, IDK much about who sleeps and who doesn't, who just rests, etc. I've never caught my fish do what you describe but my cichlid experience leaves much to be desired.
