As the thread title indicates, I'd like to obtain a small to medium sized Asian catfish for a tank that is meant to house American cichlids. Ideally, the catfish would be able to get along with a young Oscar and Firemouth without getting attacked or harassed by either of the latter. Would anyone here be able to recommend a species that would fit the above-mentioned requirement? Thanks in advance

Asian usd catfish. These are all semi aggressive fish, don't expect things to be all sweet. The cat nips fishes fins that are long or fishes that are slow moving, something to be aware of if you follow through with this species. He will hold his own. They'll hold theirs. Any other tank mates? Might change the possibilities of what catfish you can keep..

I would go with an SA cat. Many to choose from that won't harass anything.

IME, there is a super strong dependence on tank size. The larger the tank, the exponentially more peaceful the things become.

With the only exception of the true ARTC that would still tear any fish to shreds no matter how big the tank is :(
Tell us more, please. Where this info comes from and details, if you will. Not challenging you but looking to learn from you.
