So my Oscar/jd tank currently has a black background and has a black gravel substrate. Due to the fact that sand is much easier to clean, I'm about to undergo the switch. The only issue is I'm debating on whether to go white or black or even a brownish color sand. The only reason I'm debating is because my Oscar was labeled as "wild" when I bought him. And since I've got him, he's been jet black with a orange eye before his tail. Making it difficult to see him. Do you guys think a different color substrate will make him more noticeable or even bring out the orange better? And I'd like to see pictures of the tanks too. Thanks

Hello ; just out of curosity why do you consider sand easier to clean than gravel? I have used both and find gravel the easier to maintain substrate.

Before changing the black gravel I would change out the black background. I have had black gravel with an aluminm foil background before. The fish had good color.

Power head near bottom pushes debris to a filter intake. Or even just a corner where it can easily be taken out
