Is my Tex a hybrid?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He is really nice... He is Cyano, not Carpinte, right?

My Carpinte has a bit of red on his fins. It might be based off diet. I feed my lots of krill and shrimp so any reds he would have normally are more pronounced.

No I believe you!! I should have been more clear! It is actually cool how the color changes from different light. That fish in my opinion is a legit Texas...Cyano yes. Very nice looking fish!

Thanks! He's very docile fish. He loves caves though he's a little too big for one of my decorations so be dug a huge pit under it so he can rest in there.

I put the Texas in my 200 gallon and right away he fought with my red devil. He kept hitting my red devil bad but then the red devil struck back hard. I took the red devil out and recently found him a good home after 6 years of owning him.
The Texas after that knew he wasn't the alpha and backed off.

Here's a video of them going at it. This is a few minutes after I put the Texas in and I removed the red devil right after.

Texas IMO are one of the best cichlids I've owned!
