Hey guys,
The other day I made a 100% water change to the tank. I did not know it was bad to change water. However last night it was laying on the floor but now its worse off. It has been swimming vertically tail down and head up. I don't have any kits to check the parameter and stuff as there are non in our country (Sri Lanka). Pls help me soon. The only other fish in it are two scavengers. urgent
thnx

Well depends on what kind of water parameters you have really. All water has different minerals and such so can't help you. Your arowana may die. Also why did you do a 100 percent water change

Thnx bro but it did die. Well some of us learn it the hard way round. Thnx for the friendly advice.
Anyway I'll be getting a new one. Any advice pls

.....and how did you go about the water change? You must have removed the arowana in order to change all of the water so could it have gotten injured in the process?
Edit, you posted right before I did but I would suggest not doing a complete change in the future. You should not need to change that much volume if the filter system is mature and not overtaxed or unless there is some type of outbreak in the tank.

Oh yeah....definitely that too.

also make sure your tank is fully cycled, i say this as the 100% water change makes me question if you are new to fishkeeping?

I'd make sure your parameters are solid before investing in another aro

In all the years in fish keeping I never did a 100 percent water changes most I ever did was 70 percent that was due to I just treated ICK.

So before you get another Arowana make sure your water and filter media is fully cycled and dechlorinated like the post above.

Sorry for your loss. You live you learn!

Happened to my silver aro last year. I did a 20% water change just as normal and an hour later he couldn't keep his head down and was vertical. He was about 26 in and had been through the same process dozens of time over a 2 and a half year period. All water parameters were good and all the other fish were fine. Never figured out what happened.
