How long did it take to setup your tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a new set up that's been in my garage for over a month now. With other life responsibilities and the holidays coming up, it's been slow going. It's also my first drilled tank and sump, so I've been reading up on how exactly I want to set it up. Have most of the plumbing, pumps, etc now. Most likely will get it running around the new year when I can get my friend to help me move things. Will still have some tinkering to do after that, though.

I usually try to get mine set up asap inside of a day, but my corner tank took at least a month; as I had to file down the pipe that had been plumbed in, then re-silicone etc

I should take initiative and try to get the 480 setup on my own.

I did purchase a 65 gallon years ago that I setup within an hour and a 150 gallon on craigslist this year that I sanded, finished, re-siliconed the top and had it running in 48 hours. They didn't have sumps or require bracing under house though.

You got spunk setting up a 480 by yourself!!!
The planning stage for my tanks can take months....even years. I have some 1/2" tempered safety glass on the side of the house that is going to be a 360gal tank if I ever get my lazy butt in gear and build it....it is going to be 4Hx3wx3d...very tall tank....just need to weld the frame...
I think true fish peeple are thinking of their next one as soon as the one they are on is done....my problem is space...so I am making plans for outside...

My wife set my 125 up while I was away working on a local island. it took her my son and his wife three days to take down the 40, rework the stand and put the fish and water in it. and that is counting when one hob filter failed and pumped about 40 gallons of water onto the living room floor.
