Erythrinus erythrinus the red/rainbow wolf fish I heard was great with semi aggressive tank mates...
I posted a similar question in the pike forum. I was advised by Creni and few others not to do it as it would not end well.Erythrinus erythrinus the red/rainbow wolf fish I heard was great with semi aggressive tank mates...
Captain S had a habit of quoting HUGE projects and unrealistic comm tanks. Your tank is good right now, but overstocked in my opinion, adding a characin is not going to end well in my opinion. Why's that??? LOL
I was just gonna tag him saying he's the expert in them lol, well there's the answer though, all I can say is I know it's in the sax group and I had one from that group that was super aggressive, idk if the op wants to make his own conclusion depending in his specimens aggression though. Erythrinus aren't hoplias by any means, not as tough etc, but my mala was the only thing that stood up to that like lol.I posted a similar question in the pike forum. I agree with this though. Unless JDM style is what you're going for lolCaptain S had a habit of quoting HUGE projects and unrealistic comm tanks. Your tank is good right now, but overstocked in my opinion, adding a characin is not going to end well in my opinion.
Yah I looked up Captain S on google for MFK and it sounded like he did not know what he was doing at all. LOL a tank at that size would be expensive to run and u would need to at least wait half a year for the tank at that size to be established until u put fish in. That guy seemed nuttz.... But yah I hear how the pike won't do well with the wolf. Are there any other options? And I can't do any banded leporinus because I'm probably gonna get two Leopoldi Rays in the futur when I get my own place after college. All the tank mates I got so far are good with rays.I was just gonna tag him saying he's the expert in them lol, well there's the answer though, all I can say is I know it's in the sax group and I had one from that group that was super aggressive, idk if the op wants to make his own conclusion depending in his specimens aggression though. Okay so I guess I won't get any more fish until I get the 175... But just recently I found a place that can make real big tanks and I'm thinking I might end up buying a 250 gallon from them. That would end the overstock problem in the future once they're full grown. So far everything's on par so I can't complain. But anyways from listening to your guys advice if I wanted the wolf I'd have to get rid of the pike cichlid... But then again I love my pike he's really interesting and fun... Then I have a spare 55 gallon in my base ment I could use to put the wolf in in case he doesn't go well with the pike. Cause you can always try, this one lady mixed her elephant noses with a rainbow wolf and they got along just fine. But if I didn't get the wolf, and when I get the bigger tank I heard this one characin called the flag tail prochilodis I think it's spelled correctly. I heard those get a nice size and are compatible with rays and the fish I have now... And I know the fish I have now are compatible with fresh water Rays as I've done at least over a year of researching and learning and asking sting ray keepers. But I won't be getting rays for at least a few years. Once I get rays I'll probably be ordering a custom made 500 gallon acrylic tank with sump. But yah I really love the Amazonian fish and I'm trying to keep it a Amazon Biotope tank. The two Severums (Heros Notatus) are even wild caught from the wet spot tropical fish and the three spotted earth eater. All the rest of my fish are either from Florida, as my work gets our fish from there and ocassionally we have local breeders like where my chocolate and pike were from.Captain S claims to have a psych problem if I remember correctly. That's he mentioned himself. So would explain some of his threads and opinions/statements. Hope he's better off wherever he is.
Yea not sure what other chooses are left and the poss of rays in the future may need u to rethink tank size and t-mates again.
