I don't know too much about them, but have had plenty as a kid, as well as the pitcher plants and sticky plant.
Venus is always the popular one.
I remember keeping one in a big kritter keeper, with moss flooring and Sara wrapped the lid with ventilation poked. Sprayed once a day or as needed, added some flies caught in the house or the yard.
A little cup from the store, eventually filled the entire kritter keeper, then died a few months later, my guess was it outgrew the thing?
Replicate fl.... hot, humid and moist. People here plant them in raised beds or large pots and let them go. A lot of light and humidity. There Pretty neat. One of the ones I saw had a fly in it but it didn't trigger :/ I am sure it's neat to see though.
Hello: I lived near Southport NC ( moutth of the cape fear river) for a couple of years. The venus flytraps were native in spots. There was a patch on a golf course near by. Illeagle to bother or collect them. Very sandy soil that drained well. Also hot and humid.
